Features for the P0611 Digital TTL Input/Output (I/O) Module

The P0611 Digital TTL Input/Output (I/O) module, from Compact Control Design Limited, provides 32 digital input/output signals. These can be programmed individually or used in groups. The I/O module also provides 2 power control outputs for basic on/off or pulse width modulation control of 2 devices.

• Parallel port control can be internal allowing 8, 16 or 24 bit data capture

• 4K7 pull-up resistors are provided on all signals providing weak pull-ups

  The 32 I/O signals support the following configurations-

• All 32 signals can be used individually

• Single bit and byte wide input is always available

• Any signal can be programmed as an output as normal, tri-state, open drain or open source

• The microcontroller implements an 8 bit parallel port for read and write operations under external control

• 17 signals can be used to implement a 16 bit parallel input port

• The microcontrollers parallel port and the 16 bit port can be combined to form a 24 bit parallel input port

• Parallel port control can be external allowing the module to be a slave to another device

At the heart of the P0611 Digital TTL Input/Output ( I/O) module is a powerful PIC18F microcontroller. This  runs at 10MIPS and has 48K program memory, over 3K data memory and a 1K EEPROM.

The I/O module has many potential applications including-

• Implementing a parallel port for use with printers etc.

• Driving LED indicators and displays or display modules

• Providing inputs for switches, buttons and other controls

• Directly driving a range of keyboards

• Interfacing to other devices using parallel data

• Implementing the host for 1 or more Dallas 1-Wire devices

• User interfaces, such as displays and touch-screens
