Power supplies

The MonCon485 range currently includes 1 power supply module with the following features-

• Designed to enable a MonCon485 system to be powered from a mains adapter.
• Standard 6mm (2.1mm pin) barrel socket suitable for a wide range of mains adapters.
• 2 input voltage ranges: 9 to 18V or 18 to 36V.
• Provides +12V and -12V supplies at up to 85mA each.
• +5V supply at various current ratings 1A, 1.5A, 2A, 3A.
• Power indicator light.
• Battery input for battery backed operation.
• Basic trickle charge circuit for battery.
• Jumper selectable RS485 bus terminator.
• External socket for RS485 connection.

The module has been designed to enable a complete MonCon485 system to be powered from a single mains adapter, this includes modules that drive motors, valves, solenoids etc. The mains adapter supplies are routed directly to the drive+ and drive- connections for use with motor driver modules etc. The +5V and +/-12V supplies are provided by isolated DC-DC converters to provide electrical isolation if required, if not required then a single jumper can be inserted to link drive- to 0V. The module is designed to be panel mounted and includes mounting brackets for this purpose. The module also includes a jumper enabled terminating resistor and jack socket which removes the need for a separate bus terminator when using ribbon cable and also provides an easy means of connecting the MonCon485 to other devices such as a PC via our USB-RS485 dongle.

The module includes a connector that can be used to provide battery backup and also includes a simple trickle charge circuit to enable a rechargeable battery to be used.
